What an ordeal. This has happened to me since the old days when I believed that MAC was the only computer I would ever touch. Why did I have to upgrade? Why did I ever have to switch? Cost to Scan, create OCR files and Publish with Lightning Source

One of my clients created a very impressive 900 page book in 1998. I was going to have LightningSource SCAN it and create the INTERIOR file for me since it seemed like it would be the least expensive way to handle this. After researching this a bit, I found that LS does not really provide the OCR work. I found a local company that scans and creates the OCR files for less than LS. (more…)

GoFlex Home or GoFlex anything “hack”

I just started using the Seagate FreeAgent goFlex Home, and I like it except for the three computers deal and a few other nit picky details.

I looked into hacking the goflexhome drive and found terrible to good advice at hacker sites. But the good advice did not make sense. To become a super hacker, I will need a tutor or way more time.
